Featured Replies

Hi guys I have attached a picture of what I'm talking about

I have a 2008 focus mk 2.5 and I was wondering when the car is locked is this filler cap meant to lock as well as in picture car is parked and locked but I can open it as my mate has the mk 2 which is the older style and his does lock cheers

It doesn't lock, no. It is because of the 'Easy Fuel' system is very difficult to tamper with by opportunist thieves, so a lock would be a pointless expenditure.

Hi I've managed to open the tamper proof silver bit with my fingers there's 2 little button at bottom that the pump would press against

I highlighted this to Ford when I discovered it after moving from a Fiesta metal to Fiesta ST2

I know it is syphon proof, but my point is that any Tom, !Removed! or indeed Harry could come along with a container full of any carp they wanted to pour in to my nice expensive Fiesta and boom, there goes my engine etc etc etc

Bit disappointed when Ford replied saying they take all comments seriously and would pass it on to their design department!!

as said above ......... any way they can save money they will ........... 250 thousand million filler caps x an extra £10 amounts to a serious dent in the profits!

The likelihood of any Tom, Richard or Harry doing this though is very slim though, not enough to warrant fitting all with locks. It is even less likely with it being fairly tamper proof. In fact, most instances of tank interference is a direct retaliation for the owner being a complete Richard, which Ford can't seriously be held accountable for.

I think there will be a way of retrofitting the mk2 lock, but it would be a PITA to do.

The filler neck can't be tampered with even if you can push it down you can't get a syphon in there.
