MattJakeT
I would take it to ford and demand the sort it while you still have the warranty. It wouldn't surprise me of they are putting it off because it's about to run out of cover. Just tell them politely that they need to sort it out before the warranty ends, get nasty if you have too Sent from my iPad using Ford OC
Woodie53
Car been in dealers for 2 days again nothing found wrong they checked cables linkage to gear box they could find nothing i suggested it could be the gear lever selection box in car but this is a sealed unit so cannot be checked and Ford would not cover work on the warranty untill they thought this was the actual problem ie car taken in when fault happens.Have any other members with a S1600 heard of this or encountered this gear selection problem .Its so annoying as it is intermittent problem being stuck between 1st and 2nd gear selection and the gear lever cannot physical be moved to any other gear gate selection.HELP please
Russ
When it happens take a friend/relative in the car to the dealers and get them to go in and ask someone to come out & look. If the warranty runs out & they suddenly find there is a problem I'd be saying that you reported the fault before the warranty ran out! Hope you've logged the dates/times & person you spoke to about it
Phil 87
I think this is one of those problems where the dealers are trying to fob you off. If I were you I'd ask to speak to the manager at each dealership that has failed to fix the problem for you. Explain it like this: the problem might be intermittent but it's very serious and you're obviously not making it up. The dealer has no genuine reason to avoid doing warranty repairs because they claim back the costs from Ford. If they care about customer service they should take you at your word, as a customer who has spent a lot of money on a Ford and has a serious problem with it. If you don't get anywhere with them I'd send something in writing; as Russ said reporting the problem before the warranty runs out should be helpful, especially if you have proof like a letter or email. And if you or a passenger can film the problem when it happens it would be good to have proof. I don't know if that will help you, but it's just my thoughts if I was in the same situation.
