Battery light comes on at 3.5k

Hi all the battery light comes on when the revs hit 3.5k.what can this be its a 1998 2.5 v6

    Had almost exactly the same problem very recently with my ST200. Usually means that the battery is below charge, consequently not being charged by the alternator.

    Would suggest replacing the alternator ASAP as if/when your battery runs out of charge, you'll lose the entire car electrics and break down!
