Mk6 Driver Window Stuck!

Featured Replies

Hi, I've got a 3 door Mk6 Zetec S, that I have no end of problems with!

Earlier I put the window down and when it was half way down it just slipped all the way. The button wouldn't do anything, the motor is working but the window isn't going up or down.

I've taken the door card off, and theres another plastic trim underneath that houses the motor. The window is in the runners, and we can move the window up freely with my hands.

What could the problem be? I also can't see how to get the inside trim off. I've taken all bolts out but it appears that the window stops it from releasing.

Any help asap?

Thanks!

is the glass still attached to the clamps?

if so then it may have come off the runners within the regulator itself,or the cable has snapped through overrunning?

Glass is still attached to the clamps. However it slides up and down easily by hand and it'll stay up (but can be pushed down). It doesn't appear to have come off the runners?

I couldn't seem to figure out how to complete remove the inner plastic cover without removing the regulator/window etc.

There is a hole in the centre at the bottom of the glass. Through this hole pushes a pin which slots into a holder in the regulator. There is also a "clamp" either side of this which tightens up using 2 10mm bolts.

We're pretty sure it's the regulator. Ford tell me that the new regulators won't fit the old motors? Regulator is about £80 and motor £120. They say I need both! Can anyone confirm this?

The motors on the mk6 are bad for stripping the plastic gear which operates the regulator. Pull the motor out and have a look at it.

once youve done that then look on ebay for a suitable repair kit for your car.

Cheers for the help guys. The small cog part on the motor was worn out! Went to a scrapyard in Wokingham and managed to find another motor for £20. Easy to fit and it now works perfectly.

It's always the case on the mk6, done a few of them now.
