Featured Replies

Hi took car in for mot past but got a advisory on the front wishbone slightly rubber deteriation on the back bush is it easy to do myself I do all my own work but not done front wishbone

Easiest fix is just to replace the complete arm, im not familiar with the C-max, but usually replacing bushes means cutting/pressing them out/pressing them in.

You can buy the rear bush on its own but ive just had the full wishbones replaced as one of the ball joints was worn too. You can get a pair of pattern parts for around £80, genuine Ford arms were around £400! Make sure you get the right pin size as there are 2 options.

One thing to watch out for with pattern parts, there are some horrors out there - the bushes end up worn out in no time.

I don't know who makes the Ford arms but you can often pick up arms by the manufacturer for a lot less money than genuine ones, only difference is the packaging. For example, Lemforder make a lot of quality original equipment parts.

I thought i would rather replace them up to 5 times with pattern parts for the price of once with genuine as they will not wear out that quick that i would get through 5 changes during my ownership.

Hi just thinking do I need the tracking checked after I have fitted new wishbones

Sent from my iPad using Ford OC

yes you will, esp with pattern lower arms.

I would have it checked although mine was still spot on when it was checked with the pattern parts fitted.

New Delphi wishbones fitted and tracking done it like new car now the thing is I've had wheel wobble moor about 2 years now and had the wheels balance 3 times the tracking done twice by ford Main dealer not been able to sort it out clad I took it to garage in Bolton which sorted it to day it just shows your better off going to small garage

Its surprising isnt it how much better the car drives with the new arms fitted. I found mine felt like a new car too, shame i sold it 2 weeks later!
