Squeaking Noise

Hello fellow Ford owners,

I own a 2004 Fiesta 1.4 16V petrol engine with 34 000 miles . The car is absolutely brilliant but hence I am a new driver with first car and hence the car's age, every little thing that appears wrong with the car I get stressed a lot haha. So....my recent problem started about 2 weeks ago when I started to drive away and heard a constant and pretty loud squeaking noise coming from the rear right wheel. I took the car to my local Halfords and they took it out for a drive 2 times and they said they took the wheel off as well and could not find any problems with it what so ever.It was a bit of a relief but the fact here is that the noise is still there and forgot to mention that the dB of the noise rises with the road speed. Halfords told me that I might have some dirt inside the drum brake. Is that possible ?

I would appreciate any suggestion

kind regards,

Andrei

If you bought it from a garage take it back and complain.

Could be that it has been standing for a long time and the inside face of the drum has rusted, the brake lining will rub the rust off eventually.

I'm surprised Halfords did not take the brake drum off.

well I did bought it from a small local dealer but I have no complains about the car, its working perfectly and the noise just started 2 weeks ago.I just arrived home from the car wash and I asked the guy to put the hose inside the rim and wash all the dust off, the noise is not there anymore but in case it appeared from rust, its possible that the noise will reappear.

If it speeds up as the car does, it could be the bump stop has fallen to bits and the tyre is rubbing. The wheel bearing could be worn, or the brake shoe may be worn or in need of adjustment

As I said, they took the wheel off and checked everything and it was ok......so it was either dirt in the drum or rust.
