Yes, the amber engine shaped light, you need to check the resultant code to make sure it's the E.G.R.V. & nothing else.

Out of curiosity why did you blank it ?

Better mpg & sometimes better low down torque. & if the valve fails they cost a fortune to replace

i got P0400 exhaust gas recirculation "A" flow on the code check. Seems pretty self explanitory! Gotta get it mapped properly so it can b removed.

so far its only felt smoother, alot less hesitation. Plus a tiny tiny bit more poke goin up hills... but nothin to shout to much about.

Trouble is with blanking egr on petrol it increases combustion temperatures. Egr dont block up like on diesels.

yep high combustion temps creates higher nox, thats why exhaust gases are introduced at part throttle, reduces the nox by cooling .sounds daft by putting hot gases in but it does cool,

to understand egr valves for the non tech, just wikipedia it.

So in conclusion all ive really done is set my car up for a future MOT failure? So why does this benifit diesels more than petrols then? And how do they not fail there MOTs as a result?

What makes you think it will fail mot, egr blanking or engine light on not a failure, as for emmisions , mot not interested in nox readings

diesels suffer more due to sooty gasses being passed through egr, this sooty carbon oily muck builds up on egr valve its self either blocking shut or more likely open,.

So the NOx reading is not part of the emisions test? Ok that'll b fine then. So it benifits diesels more cause of the fuel they burn is dirtier than petrol and stoppin those dirty gases makes for cleaner air for combustion?
