Focus Mk3 Windscreen Wiper Issue?

Featured Replies

Hi,

Wondering if someone can tell me if this is normal: when I do a single wipe on the front screen (pressing down on the stick) the wiper (drivers side) returns straight to the bottom of the screen. However if I use manual (constant) or auto wipers the drivers side wiper stays slightly above the bottom by an inch or so and then returns to the bottom after 10 seconds if it detects no rain OR if I press down on the stick to turn the wipers off. I've attached a video to show what I mean. If you look around 16s in you can see what I mean with the wiper being slightly raised when left on auto. Unfortunately I missed the bit off where I press down on the stick to return the wiper to the bottom. Just wondered if this was a feature of the auto wipers so that the drivers side wiper isn't constantly having to return to the bottom during each wipe? Hope this makes sense, I'm taking the car in tomorrow to the dealer and wanted to double check this is correct, if not I will raise it.

Thanks.

Hi there, thank you for the speedy response. I couldn't see any mention of this in the manual, any idea why it does that? I'm going to get them to change the wipers anyway as they are juddering when wiping and need replacing.

Yeah completely normal. Exactly the same on my mk3.

Mine is also the same.

Normal operation.

Excellent guys, thank you! Any recommendation for a set of new wipers (incase the garage wont change them) ? I usually go for valeo on my Corsa.

I bought a set of bosh replacements from eurocarparts, think they have a deal on at the moment & they also deliver for free.

Used bosch a640s on mine, seem ok, been on since oct, still streak free.

Cheers guys, can get the Bosch mentioned above for £28 delivered. :)

Good practice when replacing wiper blades is to position wiper blades in the service position before changing them

press and hold the single wipe function within 3 secs of switching ign off

Thanks mate will bear that in mind.

The wiper thing is still weird tho.

Mine does this too. I thought it was because I moved it when I was cleaning but if it's normal it's all good.
