Differences Between 1998 Mk6 Escort Estate 1.4 Cvh And 2000 Finesse 1.6 Zetec

Featured Replies

Hi, I'm a proud owner of two ford escort estates, the 1.4 I have run for 5 years but has recently had a cambelt/timing failure as well as ongoing degeneration due to high mileage and I have just bought a 1.6 Zetec with the view to using some of the salvageable parts from the 1.4 model. Obviously the engines are different but will I be able to salvage other parts as spares, particularly interested in the ignition, electrical and transmission side of things. Have looked in the Haynes manual but it's not that clear in the way it divides the sections up. Anyone with experience of this or know where I can go to to find out. Many thanks in advance. \m/

Hi Steve,

I can't help you with your question, however I also own a 1.8 mk6 estate, love it, but am also looking to (upgrade) some bits from other versions/models.

In particular I'm looking to put some leather seating/door cards rather than the standard, I'm also interested in getting some kind of armrest/console (hard to describe), so I will watch your thread with interest.

Good luck & let's see an image of your new motor.
