Thinking of getting a fiesta black edition 140ps currently have an astra that's poor on mpg not so nippy and want something smaller so any pros or cons on the fiesta black edition anyone got one?

I got a black edition about 4 months ago. so impressed with it, cons will be the mpg, I get about 42mpg but have a pretty heavy right foot with mixed motorway and B road driving.

Love the fact it keeps up with my friends 1.6 fiesta metal too!

I've had a red edition for 2 weeks and love it so far !

Still trying to drive it carefully (only done 500 miles) but it goes really well and I'm averaging 41 mpg and thats mainly very short runs i.e work is only 3 miles away.

Really impressed by the car overall - good build quality, refined when you want it but sounds good when you stick your foot down and of course great steering and chassis :)

Oh standard stereo is also quite impressive :)

For me its pretty much the perfect car - of course the ST is on another planet but didn't want the harder ride or higher running costs...

Cheers for the info folks sounds better than my astra it's 34 mpg and I've done 30,000 miles lol so something with mpg in the 40 would be better and if it's a bit nippy then I should be happy

I've got a black edition and a ZS as well (my wife has the ZS)

I'll say the black edition is somewhat more "eager" to drive than the ZS, it seems to have a much quicker throttle response, and pulls more willingly when above 2. gear.

Do note however that the black edition has lower gear ratios, so it sits at rather high rpm at motorway speed. In Denmark the speed limit is 130 km/h (I think that corresponds to 80 mp/h) and I'm pretty sure the black edition sits around 3.500 rpm at that speed. Can't remember for certain because I rarely use the motorways.

MPG wise I hit around 40 in each, but we mostly do short trips of less than 10 miles, so that's why. It's still much better than the other cars we've owned (Toyota Aygo, Ford Ka, Honda Civic 1.8 to name a few)

So if you do a lot of motorway I'd take it for a test drive there, to see if you can live with the lower gearing. On any other road I'll say it's far superior to the ZS :-) (And I'm loving every minute in mine)
