New Exhaust?

Featured Replies

Hey guys and gals. I've got focus 2l petrol and toying with the idea with giving it a bit more noise and can't decide to swap out muffler or go for full new exhaust or just do something with it to give a bit more grunt. Any advice would be appreciated. Cheers

I'd say a new muffler would give you a bit more noise but not much in the way of power increase. Maybe a bit more if you changed the full system and swapped to a sports cat but you'll not get a lot more bang for your buck.

Induction kit could be a cheaper way to get similar gains and some more noise, just on the intake side instead of exhaust.

Not to fussed about power aspect. Would a sport muffler or something like that be suitable? Do you know if Its something I can swap at home or need to take to garage?

Never thought about an induction kit. If only doing muffler might have pennies left over for one, is there one youd recommend?

Thanks for the help mate

Induction kits are a bit of a gimmick imo on modern cars. The intake system's are so well designed that as long as the stock paper filter is clean it will be just fine.

I had a Skyline pushing just shy of 500bhp and that had a stock £3 air filter in it. The £110 Apexi filter made no difference what so ever.

That's not strictly true.. as some cars have restrictions in the stock air boxes/ intake systems. Some cars won't react to induction kits. Others react very well, whilst others loose power due to heatsoak issues etc
