Boot Not Openong With Key

Featured Replies

My boot on my 03 fiesta opens with the boot popper but won't work with the key. Key turns but nothing happens.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Ryan

Oh right that easy is it?

Possibly a stretched cable, broken solenoid. Bad earth or even just come unplugged! Does it make a noise at all when you press the button?

Take the card (cover ) off and have a look.

It's held on with three screws then just lever the cover off with a trim removal tool or a screwdriver wrapped in a cloth

Button as in the boot popper or button on keys? I only have standard key so just standard locking through the locks.

I'll get some switch cleaner from work along with some spray oil and have a look.

I'll have a look tomorrow when I wake up as I work night shift.

Then I'll update the situation with pictures.

Thanks for your help so far :)

Right I have an update.

Took the cover off and found that the cable had come off the pulley. Only problem with that is the plastic holder that holds the cable end is snapped and was bodged in with cable ties.

Any idea on what I can do. I just need the plastic bit. I don't need the whole lock. It's not repairable as its beyond that already.

Ryan

The small plastic bit (clip) with the cable ties on is Finis (part) number 1071662 and is about £1 from Ford.

The larger plastic bit (lever) if needed is Finis 1479665 and is about £6.

No not yet mate. I called them but didn't have any. So I said I'll order one now but they don't take payments over the phone! So lucky for me my TXS happens to be going in for service so I'll order one maybe two and it will be in the next working day. So hopefully by Wednesday it should be fixed. :)

Fixed!

Installed new clip, pop the cable back in and then enjoy using the key to open the boot :)
