My mk6 idles between 800 & 950 when warm

It's cutting out now after the revs have dropped I fitted an airfilter to it will this maybe cause the problem

Depends what air filter? Where have you located it? Got a picture?

  • Author

I've had it on before by is a lot warmer weather now and it's just infront of the battery

How high/low is it? Can it get a clear feed of cold air? There's nothing covering it or blocking it is there? Sounds like it may not be getting enough air or the air is far too warm

It struggles to keep idle at 500/600 rpm

How high/low is the air filter in the engine bay. Be much easier to see if you post a photo :)

Check your throttle body for blockAges or dirt. Give it a good clean

Clean your throttle body

I've just took my nap sensor off and throttle body cleaned them. There was oil on my map sensor and it's worse now

Disconnect the battery (if you've got your radio code) for 30 mins. Let the ECU clear itself as if the map sensor had oil on it.(I'm guessing from a K&N filter?) It'll have messed with the mixture ratios

electrical contact cleaner

I went on a little drive give it a good thrash about after I'd cleaned everything seems okay now

Cheers guys appreciate it

Either the ECU has adjusted the mixture or the oil that was present has gone! Good result either way :)
