Insurance Question - Ford Grille Replacement

Featured Replies

Hello All,

I have a question regarding Insurance Modifications! - I am wanting to replace my Titanium Grille with the "Black/Red" Edition grille.

Is this classed as a modification or will it be okay?

This is a question you should run past your insurer and get their response in writing.

Hi,

This would be classed as a modification so you would need to notify your insurer.

If you have any issues with insurance then please feel free to drop me a line.

Regards,

Dan.

Sorry to jump on to this thread as I have some questions regarding insurance. I was planning to put a wind deflectors on my car. Does this consider a mods ? Hoping dan@Adrianflux can answer coz I'm insured with them.

Thanks

^ I would let your insurer know about the wind deflectors but it shouldn't affect your premium, it didn't in my case (although I took the deflectors off shortly afterwards).

Hi,

You would need to notify us of this, any change you make to the vehicle is worth notifying your insurer of - you would not like to come to claim and have it invalidated due to non-disclosing the modifications.

By all means send me a PM with your policy details and we can check this out for you.

Kind regards

Dan.

I have said this before but what is classed as a modification. If wind deflectors are then surely different tyre makes would be, as would windscreen wipers ,spark plugs etc.I can understand performance mods needing permission but window deflectors?

^ I think the difference there is that tyres and spark plugs are a replacement which needs to be swapped from time to time. Wind deflectors are an addition which the car was not designed to have, which I think is why they would be classed as a modification.

In the insurance company's' opinion window deflectors MAY make the vehicle more desirable & consequently more at risk - therefore it has been '' modified '' as deflectors were not standard fit.

Finding out that you're not insured AFTER making a claim, or being claimed against, is a nightmare exceeding biblical proportions.

The only opinion that counts for anything is that of the insurance company.
