Convenience Pack + Flat Battery

Featured Replies

It's bound to happen, so, how do you get in?

There is a key inside your fob, 2 buttons to squeeze on the sides and the piece with the ford badge pops up.

Hi Mark, yes there is, if you remember I use that when I want to warm up the car whilst I go indoors, in winter. It feels though, that it only operates a contact, the lock/unlock clunk sounds the same as normal.

EDIT: i.e, the key turns maybe + & - 30 degrees about vertical and it comes to a dead/hard stop. Doesn't feel like a mechanism.

Another point, AIUI the key in the fob is there in case the fob battery dies. You can still get in, but, how can you start-up with a dead fob battery? (I have a couple of spare batteries in the car) unless the car understands that entry was gained with the key and will allow an engine start.

The chip in the key is passive right? So doesn't need a battery?

What about the pats chip in the fob. doesn't that work the same way as a contact less card does?

I've no idea, Willy.

A good thought though.

I just split the fob to disconnect the battery, the result - you have to walk :D

Re: the original problem. Seems I'll be fitting a charging connector, inside the front grille maybe. Progress?

If you hold the key fob where ignition lock would be in key version, it should according to manual allow you to start the car using the start button. Manual page 97

Thanks for that, Tu. I can confirm that it works :)

That'll teach me to RTFM.
