Hello fellow Focus owners. I've just bought a '09 Focus Titanium diesl powershift, car is beautiful black and in great nick. On the long drive home to Ireland from Newcastle it ran really well.....however i noticed that the rev counter fell and rose ever so slightly when driving at speed. Please tell me I've not bought a bucket of nails! That the problem is a small one. Thanks for reading, Tony

Hi welcome :)

Sure it should do that

Hi Tony,

Welcome to the forum,

Being a modern diesel engine i recommend you blank the egr valve to prolong the life of your turbo and fit a Green Cotton induction filter to allow the car breath better aswell as increase mpg.

The cough could be down to the egr being active recirculating exhaust gases back in to the induction,

It could also be a dirty fuel filter, I also recommend the AtomEx Diesel Multi- Cleaner

See my Review on there website linked above the image,

I put this bottle in with a Tank of fuel prior to having my fuel filter changed as part of a routine service,

I wanted a product that would flush through to the filter; any dirt that was likely to be in the tank,

This stuff made a great difference to the starting and smoothed out the idle running aswell as a little more free response feeling to the engine.

I recommend using around 2-3 weeks prior to changing fuel filter for optimum results from your new filter.

Third i recommend using a bottle of AtomExTotal flush a few miles before your next oil change to remove the carbon deposits and prolong turbo life by keeping the oil feed pipe clear.

In the long run you may consider dpf removal and remap,

MFK Autocare offer a nationwide service of dpf removal which i too highly recommend.

Finally which diesel engine do you have?

hi tony

what made you go to Newcastle to buy your car was it better spected than irish one or was there an other reason

Hey Paul the trip to Newcastle was because my partner wrote off a very nice '08 Focus Ghia powershift. Found the car online and it seemed the best availlable for the money, couldn't find anything as nice to replace it here this time!

Lenny thanks a million for that detailed reply. Car was supposed to have been serviced prior to us getting it, but kinda have my doubts about that. Will give it a proper full service soon at my friendly local garage. I think I'll print out your info and bring it with me. Does blanking that plate off make a difference to emissions? Our version of the MOT is quite strict/severe! Engine is the 136bhp 2.0 powershift diesel.

I wish to sincerely apologise for the damage caused to your rear shocks due to the increased performance slamming down the rear of the car on acceleration

ha ha Lenny like that

got price fitted trw shocks

rear fitted €197

front fitted €264 I assume that includes tracking as well

was pricing on micks last night for boge €400 delivered to home so that price fitted sounds good

..

was thinking of billy's b4 from the bay €426 posted will ask fitted price as already mentioned too guy in garage. might take you up on your offer of the green cotton filter if it fits 05 cmax 1,6 tdci 109 bhp. :D

is the k@n one you are betting any better then the green one in terms of driveability ? reading your profile see you got yours mapped

who done it what price was it set up on rolling road

thanks

Hey Lenny,

just a quick update on the radio situation! I tried the fuses as suggested and nothing happened so was contimplating repalcing the whole head-unit when low and behold it started to work again.....it even came back on with the correct time and the presets in the order I'd put them! Weird or what? Have you any suggestions what might have caused that to happen? It has an sd card slot for the sat-nav is this worth buying or should I just stick with the good old fashioned Tom Tom we've got?

Only assumption is there's some sort of Bermuda triangle around Carlow mate,

Here's hoping it stays good I've not experienced that before or heard of it,

Did it ask for code when it came back ?

The SD cards Maps are very outdated now to be honest,

Even in 2010, 2011 they weren't that great,

TomTom is best brand for maps in Ireland I've got an XL live

I power it from a USB Socket in the glovebox.

Hey there nope looked for nothing! Very weird tbh. So if I can get 'copy' version of the card its not worth 40/50 euro?
