mac801123
Hi All, :D Back in February I got this fine example of a 54 plate 1.8tdci edge As any second hand car it has a few issues that need addressing... The drivers door has been replaced at some point and they just fitted it as is. No electric mirror, no loom for electric mirror, switch and cover. Now have switch and cover. The rear springs need to be replaced. The rear trailing arm front bushes need changing (std issue). All rims need refurb. Rear washer needs new pipe to the washer jet. (std issue) Now been fixed. Rear wiring through the boot needs looking at as there are splits in the wire (std issue). Dents and scratches around the car, well it is 11 years old!! Off side rear bump stop broken. Flexi exhaust leak. Cigarette burn in the rear seat. Widscreen wipers do not make full sweep when stalk is moved down. (std issue) Now fixed with 2 new relays. Boot light dose not work. The steering wheel covering is slowly falling apart. The rear heat sheld for exhaust is loose and rattles. New washers fitted and all quiet. No jack, wheel brace or towing eye. These have now been sorted. Apart from that the car is very good and drives well and pulls like a train... Other things I've done... Hard wired my camera into a lighter socket behind the dash on a switched live with a inline fuse. Removed the air box resonator. There are some things I don't like about it... It is so far off the ground it looks like a Toyota HiLux. The front lower grill is different from the top one. Tango lights. The bumper mouldings. The rear wiper. The lighter socket is live when switched off. The windows don't shut when locked. There is a lot of potential in her, I just got to tease it out and improve her... Hope you all like the post, and can give me some help with a few ideas. Many thanks Mike

mjt
The windows don't shut when locked. If global closing is enabled it should work by holding down the lock button on the remote for a few seconds. Have you tried that?

mac801123
If global closing is enabled it should work by holding down the lock button on the remote for a few seconds. Have you tried that? As far as I’ve found the global closure system only works on 5 door modles with all electric windows . They never got the 3 doors to do that... Bugger!! Might look into what I can do to activate a timed relay to make it work. Now also have activated the anti hi-jack system, real easy to do. And I also have a ST170 snorkle in the post to me too. Just need a auto deflector panel to go with it. Thanks Mike
mac801123
Hi All, Since my last post... Replaced drive belt and tensioner assembly. De-tangoed side repeaters. Full service. Fitted new wiring loom in driver’s door with electric mirror and switchgear. (Now found Passenger has no wiring for the electric mirror fitted so need to sort that now) Fitted 5 new tyres (1 had to be replaced after a week as someone forced me off the road into a big hole and burst tyre and cracked rim). Fitted new snorkel. Sorted boot light. Found foot well lights and got them working. Started to fit trip computer (I have the washer bottle with float in to fit and also the temp sensor). Fitted new C.V joint and gator. Fitted chrome door handles inside. Fitted adjustable windscreen wiper switch. Fitted light switch with dimming function. Fitted new gear surround and centre dash with Black wood effect trim. Fitted new Leather gear knob. I have now found a small water leak from the front of the block and head, need to get new head gasket fitted along with new chain set, fuel pump timing belt and water pump. Chain and belt need to be replaced at 200,000 miles and i'm on 180.000 miles so makes sence to do it now as its all apart. Really looking forward to doing that! NOT... Got some more bits coming soon and will let you know how all that goes. Mike
