Lowering Springs Back Still High

Featured Replies

On my ford focus mk2. Iv taken my cheap 60mm front and 40mm rear springs off.

And replaced with 20 front 25 rear eibach springs.

And also replaced all my shocks.

Now front looks lower the 20 it's just a bit higher then when I had my 60 on.

And the rear has stayed the same as when I had 40 on.

My front is so low u can fit a finger between when and arch on 20mm

And rear I can fit 3 fingers on 25mm.

So annoying.

Why is this. Is it because heavy at front? Tdci.

But would of thought as rear is 5 more mm may of come out around same.

Basically dosn't look lowered at rear.

Anyone care to make sence of it for me

Cheers

A lowerd diesel focus is 25mm lower than a standard petrol zetec focus,

Due to diesel engines being heavier the springs are stronger so it doesnt go as low,

Give it a few weeks to settle mate,

Still looks good as the window sill is no longer slanted forward.

Blue focus in image below is a standard spring 1.6 petrol zetec

My silver focus next to it is an eibach lowered 1.6TDCi

Black focus is a standard spring Titanium 1.6Tdci

End silver is a standard spring style 1.6TDCi

Same height as the ST Mondeo

Did you buy engine specific springs petrol/diesel?

It will settle a bit over the next couple of weeks. You could always throw a couple of 25kg bags in the boot to help it along.

Mines on the eibach 35mm lowering springs from ford mate,

Same as yours i think,

Would be nice if the wheels were tucked under, only way to achieve that is through adjustable coilovers over even better air ride suspension but that costs 2,800 and takes up boot space with compressor tank lol

Hi Lenny!

I'm new on here and would like some advice please. Purchasing a Zetec S 1.6 Petrol in 2 months and was wondering what height shall i lower mine? I would like the adjustment like yours but yours is a diesel so it would be heavier on the front so what height would you recommend to put on mine? Is it okay to put the same height all around or should the rear always be higher than the front? i was thinking 30mm all round but i'm not sure

Many Thanks

Ebrahim

Hi Ebrahim,

The Zetec models have slightly lower than standard springs as standard; because they are the zetec model which is a little sporty,

My boss has a 1.6 petrol zetec and his focus is slightly lower than my ei bach lowerd diesel focus.

I'd fit 30 all around aswell because having the car level helps reduce sway on corners preventing the rear from sliding out sideways on you during heavy lateral G

I think I have a picture of my focus next to my managers in archive somewhere;

If I can find it I'll post it here,

His is around 10mm lower than mine and his is a factory spec zetec same year as mine

30mm wouldn't scrape the humps would it? Was also thinking of putting in Bilstein B12 Pro-Kit. Since its not a major drop do you think it would be okay on OEM shocks?

I've 35mm drop and it's fine, not too low atall,

I can't see 30mm being a problem;

However if you do fit a TripleRcomposites front splitter on to the zetecS lip,

You will need to take care when parking head on with kerb in front or some steap enclines as it will scrape bottom of attached splitter.

Here's TripleRcomposites splitter fitted and being respected after scuffing
