Hello. First time poster here.

This august I'll be heading to the Nürburgring to drive for the first time. I'll be driving in my Red Edition.

I'm going with a friend who has done a lot of laps down there, and he suggested to me, to swap the original pads

for some that would be more track oriented. The car will be on Conti Sport Contact 5's.

I was wondering if any of you know of some better pads. I might upgrade the brakes overall later, but I probably

wont be able to track that often, and if some upgraded pads are sufficient (to my needs) it would be more cost-efficient.

I am already changing the braking fluids, so at least that won't be the deciding factor.

The standard Fiesta brake is despite the combination of disc brakes at the front axle and drum brakes at the rear pretty good (in a brake distance test from the largest german automobile club a Mk7 1.25 Duratec braked from 100-0km/h in only 34,5 meters with cold brakes. That's about the same numbers as a E92 M3! :D ).

Main problem on a track is heat. Two laps in a row (at the 21km long Nordschleife!) are no problem for the standard discs and pads but afterwards you should let the brake cool down a bit, or you'll end up getting a really long brake pedal (and probably ruin your discs).

I've done about 26.000 Kilometers with my brakes yet and planning to change the front discs and pads to products from ATE after the summer. The got a good reputation and alot of experience in brakes.

I'm very happy with the cars ability to brake, it was the overheating issue i mainly had i mind. :)

Well, of course you shouldn't underestimate overheating (of brakes) but if you check them regularly between you laps, they should be good for a track day!

You'll get break fade after around two laps, or possibly one depending on how hard you are pushing. If you don't let them cool down you'll begin to damage the discs and then warp them. Be careful with the last point, breaking with warped discs is like driving on 50 pence pieces.

As you've already mentioned, changing the brake fluid should make the biggest difference. When the time comes, I will probably fit the following to my car (it also goes on track).
