2004 Fiesta Rear Brake Light Intensity Failure

Featured Replies

Hi everyone.

My Fiesta failed the (NCT) national car test today because of the rear brake light intensity. On the rear right and left the lights are very strong and when you hit the brakes you can just barely see further light intensity come through. It's as if the brake lights are constantly on when the lights are switched on.

Any suggestions?

It's a 2004 Fiesta 1.2 Petrol

Sounds like the bulbs are either in the wrong way round or the holders need a clean out.

The bulbs should have two bottom contacts and a staggered side pin arrangement so that the bulb can only be fitted one way round.

If they have been jammed in the wrong way then the incorrect filament will be lit (brighter brake light filament lit at all times and tail light filament working with the brakes).
