Blanking Erg Valve?

Featured Replies

Hope someone can give me advice. I've recently bought a new Ford Focus St tdci . I'm now at 4k mark and with all these issues regarding egr valves I am contemplating blanking off the valve.

Although the engine is just a tuned up version of the lower ps model and With this being a new euro6 emissions engine would there being any chance of damaging this new engine?

I had it blocked off in my mk2 focus at 90k with no problem other than the eml coming on every so often.

Thanks for any advice you provide guys.

I've never heard of blanking the E.G.R.V. causing any damage - in fact the complete opposite is true , although you might want to temporarily take it out if Ford service the car to avoid possible warranty issues.

I wasn't sure with these new euro 6 engines and the NOx traps they are using in the focus from what I've read.

NOx trap ? - do you mean D.P.F. / C.D.P.F. ?

Yes the E.G.R.V. does reduce NOx . . BUT left unblanked recirculated emissions will kill your engine & or turbo eventually.

I would blank it
