Is There A Headlight On Alarm

Featured Replies

I came home yesterday to find the wife had left the sidelights on. Obviously there couldn't have been any warning beeps when she opened the car door. Should there be and if so how does one enable it?

I don't think there is a chime for sidelights as the idea is that it can be left on as a parking light.

Only headlights chime iirc.

I believe you are right Alex!

mie beeps if i leave the sidelights on after i switch the car off and open the drivers door. i think you need to have it switched on by someone who has access to the ford software/hardware.

edit - just noticed yours in a mk1 and mine is a 2.5!

Just drove my car 5 min ago, definitely has a beep sound when parking lights are on, this is for the Fiesta, should be the same for the Focus, have a look in your settings menu under lights or chimes

On our 2003-plate the lighting switch has a parking light position anticlockwise from off. You have to push the knob in slightly to select it. This puts the side and tail lights on without the number plate lights and doesn't activate the chime. It's quite easy to turn the control past OFF to this position if you're not aware of it and you happen to be applying enough pressure to the knob. Maybe that's what caught Malcolm's wife out. It definitely chimes in the normal sidelight position.

Also a common cause of dead batteries if done accidentally.
