Cant Open My Car!

Featured Replies

Hi. Looking for a bit of advice or if anyone has had a similar situation. I cant open my fiesta (10plate) with the key fob or manually putting the key in the door. Ive had the battery changed in the key and still not working. Its been off road for a few weeks. Dont know wether the batt gone flat and that why it wont open but if it is how do i get in to pop the bonnet to get to the batt. Any help very much appriciated. Thanks in advance

The key doesn't work in the door either?! That's purely mechanical and works even when both the key and car batteries are flat. Does the key feel right in the lock cylinder, have you tried turning it both ways? You're not trying to unlock someone elses car with your key are you?

can you open the boot?

Dunno about a 10 plate but I'm convinced that my 14 plate key (from the fob) only operates electrical contacts. I get the same clunk with fob key, door button or fob button.

I get no response from pressing key no clunk no lights nothing. Its like its no power at all. Cant understand why the key wont open it manually. It will turn both ways but no noise clunk nothing and doesnt open.

If the battery is flat dead then you won't get a clunk (central locking going off) as that's all electrical too.

Have you tried turning the key one way and pulling the door open?

It may well be that by turning one way then the other you are in fact unlocking then relocking the door?

Try turning from centre to counter-clockwise, release the key then turn counter-clockwise again in case you are just releasing the deadlock but aren't disengaging the second lock cycle.

Have you tried both the keys from both spare keys?
