Hi all

Have been enjoying life with a Focus 1.6TDCI with 188k miles on it but all of a sudden the 4 year honeymoon is over as car is permanently in limp mode, has the beginnings of the black death (injector is leaking into the engine and the oil light comes on after 5 mins of driving rendering the car virtually useless. Can I warn anyone think about buying a 1.6 diesel PSA engined car to avoid one as I literally cannot afford to get it fixed by a garage. If this was my only car I would be out of a job if I had one!. cars and vans with these truely awful engines are available on the open market to the unsuspecting purchaser who may end up loosing their bussiness as a result of a duff vehicle. Shame on you Peugeot/ Ford. I will never trust either company again. PS my other car - a Passat with 300,000 miles on the clock has never given any mechanical trouble whatsoever.

    Welcome to the site! I would expect big problems on a Focus with188k to be honest. 300k trouble free is a result on the Passat though!

    Personally I would say a DV6 which has achieved 188K has had a good innings.
