Front Suspension Mk 2.5 Focus Tdci

Featured Replies

hi. I am going to give full details about my car as it's not altogether straight forward.

I bought the car 2011 focus 1.6 tdci sport last july as a repaired category D vehicle.

The car was ok and quite a bargain, but recently I hit a kerb with the front right wheel and damaged the wishboe, alloy wheel etc which I replaced. I noticed that when I removed the old wishbone it had the smaller bottom balljoint taper (pre 2006 model I think) so I replaced the hub knuckle also. I also replaced the shock absorber and drop links. basically most of the suspension components and I did the same to both sides of the car.

Now I notice that the handling is terrible and if I am taking a bend and the road is a little rough say small pot hole etc the car bounces and drifts accross the road, its a hard bounce not spongy so to speak, If I try to manually press down on the wings above the shocks there is no movement in the suspension at all, its completely stiff, no 1 and a half bounces I have heard people talking about etc.

Does any one know if this is normal or what could be wrong, I have a theory that perhaps the coil springs are different from the earlier model and these could be on the car from the previous repair but I dont know.

Any help or advice welcomed.
