Boot Tray Reverberation

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Sincere apologies if this has been raised before I couldn't find another topic that related.

Have any other fiesta owners suffered from a loud vibration noise coming from the boot tray used in MK.7 onwards?

The tray consists of your puncture repair kit as opposed to a spare wheel but the lack of weight means they tray starts to reverberate from around 50mph.

I brought this up for a couple of reasons, the first being it took me a while to work out where the noise was coming from (initially assumed a wheel bearing) but secondly how people who have had the same problem have solved the issue. I have cladded the bottom of the tray with rubber to prevent it sliding at all but haven't added any additional sound proofing yet. Is this the best/only option?

P.S. It's still audible at 18 knotches on the stereo ;-).

Cheers,

Steve

I made a foam cap to go over the top of mine, when the boot floor/tyre cover is down it stops the noise.

Forgot to mention I have a spare wheel and the tray sits inside.
