TDCi Bearing Swap

Featured Replies

Hi,

I've got a late '02 Fiesta TDCi that needs the rear offside wheel bearing replacing. I've done loads of these on both Fiestas and other cars, and usually its a pretty simple op- change the outer races, reassemble and thats about it. On this car tho things seem a bit different -the whole assembly got very hot dragging it home with a seized wheel!- tho I've yet to pull the drum off the car. Could some kind soul please enlighten me as to the set-up? does the new bearing require pressing out/into position, should the bearing be a sliding fit onto the stub axle, and if not how do I get it refitted? The car actually belongs to my father, who's 82 and uses it to go fishing so I really want this Fiesta back on the road ASAP. Any advice would be really welcome. Thanks.
