Focus Driving Lights

Featured Replies

Hey everyone.

I have a 2012 focus zetec and just wondered when the driving lights were introduced to the model. Only I have seen 2011 models with the driving lights built in the front lights (well I think they are look standard fitted) but mine doesn't have them 😒

They are optional on all Focus at the moment.

You can get kits to add them to the small grills each side of the main grill.

I have just got a 2011 Focus TitX and have noticed that although there is a strip of LED's front and rear which come on when the door is opened, or the car unlocked, only the front ones are on when the engine is running, is this correct ? It seems to me that running lights would be best both front and rear.

Yeah only the front one are on with engine running.

Back ones only come on during driving if the lights are on sidelights or headlights.

thats normal for all Daytime running lights only the front strips are supposed to be on

At the risk of sounding like a idiot.. Is the wiring in place on the focus without running lights? So if I got hold of a set of lights with the DRLs in could they be fitted straight in?

The only Ford lights for the 2012 Focus with DRLs are the bi xenons. So you need washers, ballast, levellers, etc.

Better to go aftermarket imo.

But it makes no sense, why should you only need to be seen well from the front, surely it would be better to be seen both fron the front and the rear ?

You are travelling much faster towards each other, than if travelling in the same direction.

It also makes you more visible to pedestrians, who will only be interested in cars coming towards them.

There are also reflectors on the backs of cars and they generally tend to be more visible from the back than the front.

having DRL's at the rear would look like the brake lights were on, and having them white would look like you are reversing :D
