Child Lock/lock Stuck - Help!

Featured Replies

Hi there,

New to the club, so please forgive any repeats etc.!

I've had my mk1 Focus (zetec, 2.0 on a 51 plate) for a few weeks now; decided I'd try to activate the child locks in the back to stop any escapees. Anyway, I've not had a Ford since long before kids so have never had to do this. On other cars, it was a case of pushing down the lock mechanism and done. So I did this, and it went down easily, but as soon as I did it, I knew it looked wrong.

It's now blindingly obvious I should've just used my key to do it, but the lock wont move back up. It feels spring loaded, but no amound of poking and prodding in there is releasing it. Any ideas? Obviously the door isn't closing now, so I've pulled it to and tethered it from the inside until I can get some ideas! I've tried unlocking/unlocking on the fob and key in door and tried using the button inside the door, nothing, All other doors working just fine

thanks in advance! http://imgur.com/kTYSZFd

give it a good soak with wd40 ..then while pulling the handle up from outside try and flick the catch that you pushed down back up with a screwdriver ..could be that its old grease sticking

i'm sure that key slot behind the catch should be either horizontal (child lock on) or verticle ..try and turn that so its vertical then use the outside handle to test ( if the child locks stuck it wont open from inside)
