Random Steering Wobble

Featured Replies

As title I get very random Steering wheel wobble irrespective of speed it comes and goes by itself. It only started after I'd programmed in cruise control but don't think it's related? It's a 2009 focus 1.6tdci. Never starts within half hours drive but when it does the wheel is very uncomfortable to hold and no matter what speed I'm doing its there until I stop for a while then all fine again. I can drive for 2 hours solid without an issue but another time within half hour it's wobbling like mad!!

Not exactly wobbly but I had twitchy steering once, especially when cornering or pulling away the steering wheel would kind of twitch and jump in my hands in opposite directions as if the car was trying to shake my hands off and steer itself. Not massively but enough for me to notice. Is that the kind of thing happening with you?

Had it looked at and it came down to being a worn inner arm joint that had excessive play. They replaced it and it's been fine since.

No the steering wheel is shaking quite badly like a wheel balance problem but it's not related to speed or even constant. Almost as if when it's warmed up it will start doing it at any speed until I stop turn it off and leave it for half hour

Just an update on this I changed my discs and pads yesterday and found the inner pad on nsf was lower than all the others so guessing it had been in constant contact with the disc. Driven 100 miles since and the wobbling has disappeared as has the pulsing through the brake pedal
