Hi everyone, hope you can help!

My bonnet won't open.... It had been getting progressively worse for a year or so, I used to be able to get away with pushing on the bonnet until it would work, however that's no longer the case.

Firstly I tried the pushing a screwdriver at the top of the white thing a turning the key, that yielded nothing. I tried it a few more times, still nothing. Another user online suggested inserting a long rod into one of the gaps in the white thing, that yielded nothing.

Another user suggested removing the white thing and the lock mechanism alltogether, and then inserting a long screw driver into the hole where the white thing was, and then turning it, again that yielded nothing - am I doing this last one wrong, is there a knack to it,

Or, am I going to have to remove the bottom and undo those two dreaded 10mm bolts that I'm sure my arms won't quite get to?!

I had this problem undone the lower trim on the bumper and the tray got my hands up there and undone it with my hands. Worth a go

Like the bit with the number plate attached?

I had that out and couldn't manage to do anything useful except get my arm filthy haahaaha :/

I take it you have the mk2.5? Mines the mk2. I just got my arm up and clipped the arm back into the mechanism put the key in away you go. Unfortunately it doesn't seems it's so simple to fix on the mk2.5. Sorry I can't be of more help mate hope you get it sorted soon.

As my bonnet lock would not open and o then got it to work but then it basically fell apart and wouldn't let me shut the bonnet anyhow Iv got the bonnet shut just no way of opening it now

easiest way would be take the kit to a locksmith.

Also when I took out the lock yesterday there appears to be a electrical connection at the bottom, do some models have a button to open the bonnet or is it more as a warning to say if it isn't shut properly

There is a sensor on there to make sure you don't go driving about with it open

In the end I had to reach up from under the car, remove the two 10mm bolts and then lift the bonnet open....

I jacked the car up a few inches just to get a bit more space in there, a right pain but didn't take too long. In hindsight I should have done it earlier rather then faffing around trying to get the key to work...
