Boss cat
Hello all Our 2004 cmax 2.0tdci had a gearbox failure which turned out to be a total lack of oil. Car had always been serviced by a garage, with previous owners, so when I could find no obvious leak, I began to think that garage had forgotten to refill it, or something? Anyway, I've obtained a replacement gearbox and fitted it. When I fitted driver side drive shaft, it became obvious that the part of the shaft which sits in the gearbox seal, is too short. This could obviously explain the previous failure. Anyway, I've checked part numbers with Ford and both box and shaft are correct. The shaft centre bearing fits perfectly, the splines fit perfectly and everything goes into place, but that part of shaft which should go into seal is just too short. If I could just get a drawing and correct dimensions, I could make necessary measurements l, but no one actually keeps any useful information. Anyway suggestions much appreciated
