Autoboot Mk7

Featured Replies

hi all

I'm new to the forum after buying my zetec s last week

i am looking into making the boot open when you press the boot button twice.

has anyone managed this yet? might save me a bit of trial and error

my idea at the moment is to get uprated boot struts and a die spring to give it the little push it needs

cheers

josh

Dont do it, recently alot of people have done this and theres a high risk that the strut braces that attach to the boot lid will bend/snap

As above, alot of people both on the forum and not, have tried this with tonnes of different springs, washers, updated shocks etc. Some of them (not on the forum) caused structural damage to the C pillar, others bent the boot & had lots of other problems.

If the auto opening boot is a feature you desperately want/require then you've bought the wrong car I'm afraid :)

Hmm they ones do look a lot higher quality than the ones that were out a few months ago, don't understand how the can cuss so much damage though!?

I Still have my springs on no damage at all :s remember the people who had damage tried industrial springs lol but mines doesn't work anymore but makes it easier for ma little mother to open the boot

Industrial springs which were too large when compressed, combined with washers. I'll try find the picture, can't remember where it was

Steep price but he is giving you the pistons too

I might try them later on, but I have some other mods coming first. :)

Think I'll try these. I didn't think about the danger of damaging the car when the springs are compressed. Thanks guys
