2013 Focus Parking Sensor Error

Featured Replies

I have a problem with the front sensors which is also affecting the rear. A get a parking pilot malfunction when ignition is turned on. Auto electrician been out and done a continuity test. His electronic hand held computer saying 'B1B42 front left sensor circuit short to ground or open'. Any ideas would be welcome. Taking car to his work shop for further investigations/to be sorted. Bought a new sensor from Ford and still getting the errors!!

Water and dirt ingress into the front parking sensor connectors is a common problem on the Focus MK3. Water inside the connector or corroded connector pins can cause a short circuit or open connection. You should check all front parking sensor connectors first and clean them if there is any dirt/water inside the connectors.

The problem was brought on from the wife clipping the bumper on the gate post but no where near the sensors. The bumper came away from the car about a good inch and a half. All wiring is fine according to auto electrician but he's detecting this error/fault code
