Want To Fit Bigger Alloys

Featured Replies

Hello all.

Im not sure where to start looking. I have a 2010 focus with the 17 inch 8 Y spoke wheels.

I would like to fit the newer 2013+ 18 inch 8 Y spoke wheels.

Where can i find out if its the same stud pattern/width?

I used to have an ST, and i know that due to the with of the wheels there was a stop bung/steering rack limiter to prevent rubbing. Hense the massive turning circle. Would i also need to make this adjustment or would it be a straight swap?

If i went for bigger wheels id like to drop the car 30mm. Any recommendation on springs?

Thanks in advance :)

Newer wheels will fit as they have same stud pattern but you may need different nuts due to varying stud length.

You will need rack limiters on the front for sure.

I haven't got rack limiters o my car and I don't have any issues at all and suffer no rubbing

the wheels look ace but are a) hard to find and b) expensive!

good luck and update wit pics when you get them

I have been looking on fleabay for a while. They are out there but to get a good price i will maybe have to buy one at a time as they come up. I will definately keep you all posted!

If i do need the limiters, what exactly are they/are they easy to fit?

eibach do 30 drop wont break the bank quality kit

My mk3 has those wheels with standard fit 235/40/18 tyres and it does have the limiters fitted from new. My Cmax was supposed to need the limiters for 18's but those wheels had standard size 225/40/18 and never rubbed so didnt fit the limiters in the end. The limiters are only around £15 ish to buy.

We have all seen the 'boy racers' who fit massive wheels on their cars without changing the suspension setup. The car sits really high and looks odd.

If i fit these, the wheel is bigger but tyres are smaller and the overall difference in diameter is only 0.2mm.

So in theory the car should sit exactly the same right?

Nope. Your car will look like a 4x4 so get some lowering springs/suspension on it and drop it and it will look bad a s s
