Mk1 Focus - Brake And Abs Dash Light

Featured Replies

So on almost all journeys I have in my Focus the Red Brake Light is on for most of it. Then other times the Orange ABS Light is either on or Flashing.

I have used Forscan to read for error codes but the car has none. To me this limits the lights to 3 possible Causes:

  • Faulty Float Switch for Brake Fluid (brake fluid is a max line)
  • Faulty Handbrake Switch.
  • Instrument Cluster Condensation Issues (seems to be a well known problem with 2003 Focus models)

I took the Instrument Cluster apart and have found the following:

I haven't cleaned it yet as I do not have any PCB/Flux Cleaner at the moment but will be doing it soon.

Apart from the 3 possible causes above can anyone think of anything else that may be causing the lights to come on? This would have to be issues that would not leave an error code I am guessing. The car has only done 54k so milage is very low for age.
