Headlight Will Not Sit Properly

Featured Replies

Hey, I have changed the bulbs in my fiesta zetec 2014 but I can not seem to get the passenger side headlight to sit flush with the body work after re-fitting headlight. The unit looks as though it is too far behind the front bumper. Has anyone got any ideas as to why I can't get it to sit properly? The driver's side headlight is fine.

Thanks in advance.

They can be a pain to get back in correctly, havent taken one out in a while so cant comment on best way to refit, obviously you got it fitted ok on the other headlight, make sure theres no wiring trapped under somwhere, just a case of retrying it

Thanks for your reply, I have had it out multiple times and checked everything but it will not fit correctly  Whenever I get it into the correct position the bottom screw holes do not line up.

Changed my bulbs to Osram Night Breaker Unlimited (really, really good light, btw.) recently and also struggled a bit first to get the headlight on the passenger side back into the right position.

But after a few tries (and making sure, that the large clip on the lower side clipped in properly), it seemed to me, that the easiest way was to align the screw holes on the lower side first and then "push" or "twist" (don't know the proper word for it at the moment) the headlight to the upper screw hole.

It should fit, but it needs some tries sometimes. ;)

You're right. I had the same problem. Driver side goes in fine, but passenger side is fiddly. I just pushed it up flush with the bumper at the front, and screwed it in at the front and put the rivet in, then (although it wouldn't tuck in snug at the back) just forced the screw in so it would genuinely press up flush with the bodywork. Not ideal as ended up stretching the plastic mounts abit, but couldn't figure any other way.

I've just changed my headlights on my Mk7 Fiesta ST2. Getting the driver side headlight in and out is a breeze. So easy to get back in and it fits like a glove. The passenger side headlight is a nightmare to get back in correctly. I must have had mine in and out about 50 times before I got it back in right. Funny that on one side there is no problem and the other side takes ages to try and get it into place.
