Dpf Cleaning

Featured Replies

Today I saw a van with a picture of a typical DPF. One whole and one cut away pic. The company offer to clean ones DPF and give a 6 month warranty. How much I hear you ask. A whopping £200. To me they can go feck themselves considering one can get it gutted and deleted from the ECU from £60 upwards.

£200 for cleaning a DPF is heaps cheaper than circa £1000 for a new one - bearing in mind that driving a car with a gutted a DPF is iIlegal

You have a point. But I recall when I had my 1st mk4 mondeo 3 odd year's ago I saw adverts for replacement DPF'S at around 350.

As fro gutting being illegal I'm not sure of that simply because there are thousands of A frame advert boards advertising the service. Intriguing.

I think you can buy reconditioned DPF's for around £350 - new ones are around £1000 & believe me gutting a DPF is illegal as it is an offence to drive the car as it no longer meets the emission standards it achieved when it was approved for sale in the U.K.

There's plenty of info confirming this on the net

These companies can legally gut the DPF - but it's the driving of the vehicle that can present a problem

I foresee DPF gutting being made iIlegal too in the not too distant future

Oh! There's been loads said about gutting DPF's but on another ford forum and wether the car would pass an MOT. Those in the 'know' (and I'm not one of them) say it's ok till 2017. I personally don't know the legality of it all but I also recall forum chat of cleaning ones own DPF with a power hose. Isn't forum chat interesting.

As an aside , most in tank so called liquid DPF cleaners don't work as they are combusted prior to reaching the DPF

www.oilem.com sell Archoil products which do work

New M.O.T. rules for inspecting DPF presence came in in Feb 2014 :)

Your well genned up on this pal. Well done you for sharing your knowledge and nice car too you have. I sold mine coz I bit off more than I could chew financially but still I had it a year and thoroughly enjoyed it.

Thanx :)
