What Tyre Would You Choose?

Featured Replies

I want a tyre with all the benefits grip on dry wet and long lasting if possible

So I need 4 new tyres with this above

So my question is

If you had to get 4new tyres on 195/50/R16 what tyre would you choose?

Reasonable pricing too

I just bought 2 tyres from tyreleader. Not the same size I know

http://www.tyreleader.co.uk/car-tyres/bridgestone/potenza-re050a/205-40-r17-84w-358003

Ordered late sat, and arrived today but I think delivery was free? (They came from Germany) Just had them fitted and they seem good.

Had to get these ones though to match the ones on the back. . . Which is a vicious cycle because they'll probably be worn within 3 months and I'll have to get them again then DOH!

Was £155 included VAT, and I got them fitted near me for £10 a wheel, and no charge for disposing the old ones.

Halfords wanted £90 a tyre including fitting. (Ok so I saved £5)

Michelin Energy Saver+ or Dunlop BlueResponse.

Michelin Cross Climate. Winter tyre and summer tyre all in one!

That's the ones I wanted but they only got them in 55s :/

ContiSport Contact 5?

Contisport 5 isn't in my size

http://www.tyrereviews.co.uk/Tyre-Size/16-Inch-Tyres/195-50-16-Tyres.htm

Looks like there are a few good tyres at that size, with Bridgestones getting the best reviews (that's unusual lol).

Edit: careful some of those are all season tyres including those Bridgestones. I assume you want summer tyres unless there is something else like the Cross Climates that are equally good in summer and winter.

second that Phil 87

Here's another good one from Dunlop that seems to come in that size: http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/accessories-tyres/88482/dunlop-sport-bluresponse-tyre-review

These are what I have! Can't fault their grip at all, wet or dry, nice rigid sidewalls for cornering as well. Theres nothing 'blue' about them though, economy didn't change at all lol.

I think they make Michelin Pilot Sport 3 in your size? Rated by a lot of 'car people' I know, but aren't exactly cheap.

Vredestein sport track 5 had them on my astra absolutely amazing grip in dry and wet see the reviews Vredestein sport track 5 had them on my astra absolutely amazing grip in dry and wet and cheap too

I was told hankook ventus prime 2 are good too and are now on bmws too thinking along this line but still not so sure I am getting all my tyres done

I've tried the hankooks and can say there not bad. Only gripe would be they were noisy on my focus ST with 18s

  • Author

understandable willy with 18s! haha and wider tyre :P 205 a guess? atleast!

I had the Hankooks on mine and didn't really rate them, they weren't bad but weren't anything special either, particularly in the wet where they didn't inspire confidence.

Also my 16s are 205 wide, think the 18s are 225 wide lol. :P

My last Fiesta had Hankooks on the front wheels when I bought it, they seemed like good tyres and I've heard they are a good brand in general.
