Water Leak Spark Plugs 1.6 Mk2

Featured Replies

Hi

I'm sure you all know the dreaded water problem in spark plugs. I've tried everything, silicone both sides of washer jets, getting an engine cover, dried it out and replaced the plugs about 4 times. Still happening - help?

I fitted a set of new (revised) washer jets to a mk2, still leaked. So i removed them and applied a small amount of silicone grease to the underside and refitted them - never had a hassle since and that must be a couple of years now.

Tried this several times and still no luck thanks anyway

Was it silicone grease or sealant you tried though?

to do it without leaking you need to remove the rubber washer from the jet and silicone the side that mates against the jet first then you silicone the underside and fit once in place a bead of silicone on the inside of the bonnet done mine at least 2 yrs ago and not a drip

Hi on the Mrs focus it was the core plugs leaking the 2nd time it happened they apparently rot with the original water damage, worth a look.
