I just bought a ford focus titanium model (2015) and wanted to add sat nav. Rather than buy the sat nav from the dealer I foolishly bought a sat nav sd card from ebay here is the link to the item I bought:

I was wondering where I install this in the newest ford focus. I read online that there was something in the glove box or attached to the unit but I can't find anything.

There is a Sd Card slot in the arm rest, when I inserted the SD Card here nothing happened.

Anyone know how you install the sat nav updates to the latest model of Ford Focus. All I can get from google is vague links about older models.

If the car didn't come with Sat Nav, it needs enabling in the car's config.

I don't know if it is as simple as just plugging in the SD card and changing a setting with IDS though...

As far as I know the only SD cards that work are only available from Ford stealers - at stealer prices

Hmm so I presume there is no way to do this without going through the Ford Dealer then? What do you mean by IDS?

IDS is the system Ford use to talk to and configure the car, every main dealer has one.

That ebay ones looks like the old version that doesnt recognise 7 digit postcodes, no doubt you will see alot of those on ebay shortly

So I suppose this is impossible to get this as an individual ? I guess only the dealers have access to this software. The OBD connector looks fairly standard

You can get modified obd connectors and software (elmconfig) but it hadn't been updated to support the 2015 Focus last time I checked.

Check out Focccus software for the ELM, it shsould work with your focus, it does with my Mk3, but may not be as simple as turning it on as you will be missing the GPS unit I expect

Unless it has been updated recently that won't work with the 2015 Focus.

GPS unit will already be fitted as it is required by emergency assistance.

Emergency Assistance uses a different GPS antenna. This is not the same GPS antenna that is used for SAT Nav. The GPS antenna which is required for Sat Nav is not present in cars without Sat Nav.

I expect there will be some other hardware/software differences between vehicles with/without Sat Nav.

Yes that is the right SD card F4 Ford sent me this on recall and it was just swap over plug and play.... Do you have the touch screen ?

Yeah just swapped my F2 for the F4 that arrived from Ford today. The Silverstone postcode works now, lol.

Yes I have it's the latest version of focus (just bought it) where did your's fit. Mine is currently in the arm rest. I presume thought like alexp999 is saying is that I haven't got the satnav enabled as I don't see any option for it.

I may be off-issue here, but ever since I got my Mk3.5 I have been disappointed that it doesn't recognise about 50% of the postcodes that I try to enter in to it. Quite frustating. Usually it is the last letter of the second part of the postcode. For example AB1 2CD, it often doesn't have the D (for example), or whatever letter happens to be the one I want. These are not new postcodes either!

Not sure if this will be fixed by an upgraded SD card? Car is currently in the garage getting it's fuel pumped replaced, because of the weird engine revving noise issue. Ta

There is a recall about this.

You should have received a letter. I did and have already got a new SD card.

We bought the vehicle through a car scheme so don't have direct contact through a dealer in a traditional way. I contacted the dealer about it and they ordered me the card the last time it was in the garage, so should be dropping through my door soon. Thanks all.

I'm in the same boat - purchased a 2015 Focus with the promise of Sat Nav but there was none present, I've been watching videos on Youtube all day of aftermarket solutions, is it as easy as buying the correct head unit in the UK cars as with US?

I know that this is a 2012 focus, but is it different for the 2015 model?
