2008 Mk2.5 Twisted Bar Under Chassis

Hello :)

Noticed something this morning whilst checking under the car, which I've only had for 6 months (and wasn't there when it was bought) - a bar of some description appears to have twisted quite badly and is obviously rather concerning. Not sure what the bar is, or if it can be/should be replaced or if it just needs straightening & welding.

* edit * - found an eBay listing with it called a "Shell Steady Bar"

Pic is below, any recommendations would be gratefully received! Car's a 2008 facelift 1.6 tdci estate.
