Gearbox Oil Change Any Ideas

Hi all im a bit stuck at the min ive 2000 1.4 ford focus, whent today and spent 35 on gearbox oil got home thinkin it would take a few mins to change it.

looked all over the gearbox and couldn't see a filler plug or drain plug jacked up the car removed battery and houseing and air breather box still with no luck, the haynes manual isn't much help either, if any one could help id appreciate it cheers



Hi if you look under the front on the right hand you will see a plastic cover take that cover off and the drain plug is there

Thanks for the fast reply john I seen that cover and opened it but theres a few things inside of it is it tricky to remove them in order to get the cover off and wheres the filler plug I was gonna go true the hassle of poppin a drive and fillin it that way but thatd anoyin, thanks for replyin and readin

The Ford IB5 gearbox does not have a drain plug. There is only a filler/level plug behind the cover.

Draining the gearbox can be done by removing a driveshaft or by using a vacuum pump and hose through the filling hole.
