Focus 1.6 Zetec 2010 - Abs/esp Noise From Dash?

Featured Replies

Hi,

Another quick question, hopefully...

I've owned this car almost from new and there's always been a sort of short (0.5 - 1s) "whizzy whirr" noise from the lower central dash area when the car reached about 10 MPH. I wondered if this was some kind of ABS/Electronic Stability Programme test going on...or maybe just the doors locking.

More recently, I've noticed it occurring more often, especially if going over bumps when cornering at reasonable speeds (e.g. 40-50MPH).

I wondered if it might be the ESP being a bit trigger happy, maybe because of differing wheels speeds brought about by rolling circumference changes (e.g. tyre pressures or wear) but I thought it wouldn't be that sensitive.

Any advice on what it might be, please?

Thanks

My focus does it too. Nothing to worry about. Its the ABS self test.

Never had that noise abs test is a clunk sounds like aircon gassing up

Mine makes the springy clunk sound at 10ish mph. And very occasionally if I brake on bumpy or uneven ground I hear the ESP go off. Think it's normal.
