Ford Focus 2015 Zetec Autolock

Featured Replies

Hi,

I've just got my new ford focus 1.5cdti Zetec, and i was wondering if anyone knows how to turn autolock on, I've tried all the normal things like turn the ignition onand press the lock button 3 times etc but nothing seams to work, anyone got any ideas?

Regards Rupert

It can only be turned on via the central config.

Last time I checked Focccus hadn't been updated for the 2015, but that might have changed now.

Otherwise it needs to be done with IDS, either someone who has one, or a willing dealer should be able to do it.

The BCM of the late Focus MK3 and Focus MK3.5 can not (yet) be diagnosed with the FoCCCus software. The latest available software version of the FoCCCus program (0.8.4) does not support the latest type of BCM.

The current software versions of the Ford IDS diagnostic system can not be used to activate the autolocking function. This function is officially not supported by Ford Europe. Because of legal reasons Ford decided to remove this function from the IDS software. The function is still present in the IDS software but is greyed out and can not be activated.

At this time activating the autolocking function on the late Focus MK3 and MK3.5 is only possible with old software versions of the IDS software. The biggest problem will be to find a Ford dealer who is willing to install older software to activate the autolocking function. Most Ford dealers will simply say it is not possible or not supported.

you dont want it its dangerous in an accident its a nightmare to get the doors open hence why ford stopped it

I switched it on mine thinking it was a good idea , anti hijack. Then whenever I stopped to pick someone up while engine running they couldnt get in, then realised as arthur points out, what if I had an accident , mine back to normal now.

In case of an accident the doors will automatically unlock.

On other markets Ford still offers the autolocking feature. In the USA for example the autolocking feature can be ordered as a paid option on new cars.

Lets hope so.

How old a version does of ids still supports this option?

I do not know exactly but as far as I remember the autolocking function was removed from the IDS software around 2008.

i thought when you said previous versions you meant like 6 months ago. ha ha . 2008 , thats a long time ago, i can understand why dealers wont want to put that old a version on there diagnostics. thats time consuming.

How about Auolocking when you walk away with the key but forget to lock?

I'm not sure if thats an option or if it is on mine but the car does detect if the key is near with the keyless start.

Auto locking was possible to enable on some cars using IDS.

Ford then disabled this feature around 2008/2009.

A contact of mine questioned Ford Europe about this and they responded by saying that auto locking was no longer available due to safety concerns.

Apparently in some crash tests the doors did not always automatically unlock.

Thank you all for your response, looks like ill have to speak to my ford dealer to see if they can turn it on, if it can be that is, i quite like the feature its just added security if my partner takes my car.
