Ipad Dash Install

Featured Replies

Hi all

My iPad has been knocking about not doing much since we purchased it. Gonna finally put it to good use and incorporate it into my audio set up.

Looking for advice on the install; firstly wiring, wondering wether to wire the iPad directly to the amp powering subs and speakers or keep the stereo installed and connect through USB. Advice please?

Also dash installation. I've lined up the iPad to the dash where the original stereo is and it's much to big - it covers the hazard light even when it's horizontal (the position I want it). I'm wondering wether to build a custom mount and fabricate around this. Has anyone done this install and can advise best mounting place? Anyone?

Security is not a problem as the iPad won't be left in the car - will be took to work with me or left at the house.

Joe

i'm pretty sure i saw an ipad dash install on a focus before and saw someone selling it on ebay ages ago.

look on the torque app forum and see how others have mounted it in their cars to give you some ideas/inspiration

I've seen something like this too, but it must have been an iPad mini, because I remember that I tried to align my iPad with the stereo dash and it didn't fit...so I believe going with a custom fit is something that you'll end up with, I'm looking forward to see the results if you decide to go for it :)

As far as the stereo-with-iPad/iPad-only setup, I think it would look much cleaner without the stereo (even when it would be hidden), but I'm worried you might end up with using the stereo whether you like it or not...but that's just my first thought...
