Pas Reservoir/cap Leak

Featured Replies

Afternoon, first post from a Fiesta owner looking to become a Focus owner.

I've been looking at a few used cars, 09, 10ish, and today looked at a 60 plate Sport. It hadn't been through mechanical or valet, so was good to see in working condition. Generally it looked sound, and the best I've seen so far, but one small issue is stopping me reserve it.

There appeared to be a previous weep from the PAS reservoir, which from the dirt collected on it wasn't new. Hard to say if it came from the cap or a crack high up in the reservoir; only thing I noticed was the cap rattled about a bit when I fiddled with it, not sure if that's normal? Nothing fresh evident coming from it though.

Of course, the dealer said their mechanic will take a look at it, but just wondering if this would be ringing alarm bells for anyone? Could be an overfill from a rushed service, or could it be an overpressurisation in the steering system. Difficult to say without examining it, but interested in the forum's thoughts.

Cheers

Unfortunately, the car hasn't been in their workshop yet, so they wouldn't allow a test drive. :-/

Should be able to get a shot in it this week though.
