Not Quite A Dropped Kerb...

Featured Replies

So today, I went to pull up half on the pavement. I intended to drive up the dropped kerb before my friend's house and pull up there. As I did so, my car went "clunk!". Clearly the dropped kerb was not all that dropped...

Low and behold...

I'm stupidly annoyed with myself because I didn't have to pull up on to the pavement, but normally do so because it means I can't misjudge my car's distance from the pavement if pulling up alongside the kerb. Put another way, to avoid kerbing my alloy, I've kerbed my alloy.

The question is this; is it worth trying to do something about this myself with some sort of -£20 repair kit or should I get some local quotes? This alloy in particular was refurbished following a recent car park collision (not at my expense, thankfully), which is why I am keen to get it back looking proper!

Do you think anywhere would do a cheaper rate as it is only one part that needs doing?

Thanks, guys.

I think most people will do it for £50 a wheel. . . just depends if it's worth it to you.

Nasty cut in the tyre wall there too & could mean a new tyre

Which was also replaced during the repair from the car park collision... There's kerbing your alloy and then there's what I seem to have done...

looks like new tyre and wheel refab

I'm told I did look like I was going to cry! ridiculous, isn't it? Always after they are redone...

On the plus side, I have found a place local to me that will do returns for £40 a corner, which is great. I will probably wait for the winter to be seen through though as I imagine grit and potholes and ice etc. could cause further damage!

I done it at work. Drew up too close to kerb and heard the dreaded scrape. I believe I sat with head on steering wheel for about 30 secs.

I did exactly that! ^^^^

Been here too, gonna wait til after xmas is done and get mine refurbed...that scraping noise makes me feel sick

That's so small just touch it in for around £10, Theres a place in aylesbury I just had all 4 wheels refurbished and powder coated with them for £140 all in
