i have a ford focus 2011 1.6 zetec is there a problem with this gear box ? when trying to select reverse there is a crunching noise and the car moves , this is when the clutch is fully to the floor help needed thanks tuck

    Sounds like clutch drag.

    Try pumping the clutch peday a couple of times before selecting reverse and see what that does.

    I'd also check clutch fluid levels.

    It should be done every 2 years as the fluid is hygroscopic, that is that the fluid will absorb water causing uneven hydraulic fluid behaviour.

    Air bubbles due to leaky seals on the master cylinder/csc will compress more than hydraulic fluid again affecting the compression behaviour.

    have tried selecting a forward gear first an this seams to help ? will try pressing the pedal a couple of times to see what happens , Arnold Clark say that all fords don't like reverse gear lol I know this cant be right I have phoned ford customer service an they say a ford dealer should be able to sort it out ? new clutch kit fitted still the same :(

    No synchromesh on reverse, when you select it press the clutch in and give it a couple of seconds to 'settle' then slip it into reverse, don't try to whack the clutch in and ram it straight into reverse
