Terra Clean 1.8tdci

Featured Replies

Has anyone ever had a Terra Clean on the 1.8TDCi?

I have my car booked in for an MOT and considered having it done.

Car is an 06' with 130,000 miles.

Did you notice a change in performance or economy?

got my 1.8 tdci done 2 weeks ago and great results, not as jerky at low revs, runs smoother, was trying to stall easy when u decrease speed in low gear, had to jump down to first quite often, worth getting done, my car was much quicker and responsive also mpg was great aswell

How much is it roughly to have it terracleaned?

I had a Terraclean today in fact, but on a 1.4 TDCi. I noticed that it idles and runs much more smoothly, runs quieter (my Fusion sounds less like a tractor and more like a car now :P ), I can hold onto higher gears for longer at low speeds and overall it seems more eager/perky. Also noticed that I got more miles out of the first bar of the fuel gauge.

Cost was £90 + VAT = £108.

I had mine done at Browns in Thame, Oxfordshire, by a guy called Alex who's previous job was working for the Renault F1 team for 10 years!

My local garage charges £75+VAT.

well worth money, gona do mone yearly as part of service as carbon build up cant be doing any good in engine

was thinking of having my st done but unsure

I had one done on my 2006 2.0 petrol Focus recently. Possibly the best money I've spent on my motor (and I've just spent a lot!)

You won't regret it.

May have to look into then before I remap, will it matter my egr will be blanked?

will look into it as a garage about one mile away does it

A blanked EGRV is the same as a non functioning EGRV in as much as the valve is effectively permanently closed when blanked, so terracleaning won't clean the blanked EGRV - but you don't need it cleaned as it's not functioning

However you could temporarily remove the blank for the clean & reinstall if after if you can be bothered, as the terraclean will at least then assist in cleaning the inlet manifold of accumulated gunk which is important

i was thinking the same, i will be getting mine terracleaned in the next month, and ill remove the blank before i take it there as i want the intake manifold cleaned

Good call Mark. Might as well get it all cleaned if you are paying out for it and then put the blank back it. My cars running well but im tempted to get mine done but dont know if im going to be wasting money because it runs well

Bearing in mind of course that the EGRV is closed at idle & at WOT, so for the terraclean to get to the gunk in the inlet manifold the rpm of the engine needs to be correct - allowing the EGRV to open to facilitate exhaust gas flow to the inlet manifold

The only potential downsides of this treatment i.m.o. are that the product can dissolve gums & varnish & other gunk, that in a high mileage older vehicle, are actually contributing to the engine's stable operation by '' masking '' or compensating for wear & worn components, so by cleaning them otherwise hidden issues could become apparent

Hi Guys and Guyettes

Just has Terraclean done to my 1.6 tdci Focus milage 148k (EGR has been mapped out)

Pre having the Terracleaning Service i ran a 70 mile motorway trip to set up MPG for a test datum and returned MPG of 62.7 ( trip driven at constant 70 mph)

Lloyds MOT and Service Centre also ran Emissions Test which returned an Absorption Coefficient 0.64 l/m test limit is 1.50 l/m (smoke test)

having had the Terraclean service Lloyds repeated the Emissions Test which returned Absorption Coefficient 0.23 l/m a significant reduction in smoke on an already fairly clean engine ( Full Service history from the Police)

I then ran the exact same 70 mile Motorway trip at a constant 70 mph and returned MPG 65.2

Benifits extra 3 MPG approx, reduced Smoke during MOT Emissions Test

Cost £108 inc VAT

Lloyds MOT offer Terraclean in Cardiff their phone number is 029 20232660

Im well chuffed with the Terraclean effect

Well the car passed the MOT with flying colors which I hadn't expected, so I've gone ahead and booked the Terraclean in for tomorrow morning.

I have always been fairly liberal in the use of Redex but on a car with 130K mileage I'm hoping to see a noticeable improvement in economy/performance.

Well, another successful convert.

Took the car for a Terraclean this morning, took approx 1hr 15minutes to complete plus time for a test drive by the garage. Total cost was £75+VAT which seemed like a bargain.

I haven't put the car through it's paces as much as I'd like just yet but initial impressions are positive.

The car definitely pulls better through all gears and I can remain in a higher gear at lower revs than was previously possible, engine feels alot smoother too.

I won't know about economy until Monday morning on my usual 100 mile round commute to work but initial thoughts indicate to a 3-4mpg increase.

Additionally, the Terraclean seems to have reveal a potential issue with an injector misfiring.

The garage also does Quantum Tuning remaps for a discount rate as I've had the service from them. For £185+VAT their "Blue" remap offers a mixture of economy and performance which seems reasonable, should I trust it from an independent garage?

Looks like the same garage I had mine done at.

I'd jump on their offer as it defo sounds worth it.
